Our Vision
Linking People – Place – Planet for greater Health and Wellbeing
Our Mission
Teladan is pioneering a holistic approach to health and well-being through sustainable gardening. Our 1000 Raised Beds initiative is a tangible "Common Ground," fostering community engagement, environmental stewardship, and the greater vision of access to health for all. We are everyday people who are #BeWell and #Health4All Champions.
Our Approach
The Roots of Health
We believe true wellness grows from the ground up. By connecting people with the earth and each other, we're cultivating a healthier future for South Snohomish County and beyond.
Sustainable Solutions
Our minimalist gardening techniques emphasize simplicity and year-round cultivation of high-yield, beautiful food. Using few inputs, no machinery, and simple tools, we're creating a model for next-generation health solutions.
Relationships as Soil
Just as rich soil nurtures plants, strong community bonds nurture people. Our collaborative approach strengthens connections between neighbors, creating a supportive network of gardeners and health advocates.
The 1000 Raised Beds Project
Our flagship initiative is more than just gardening—it is a movement towards greater access to health for all and environmental harmony across our communities. Here’s how it works:
- Simplicity: We keep it simple so everyone can participate year-round.
- Sustainability: Focus on seasonal produce and hardy vegetables.
- Education: We share knowledge on soil preparation, crop rotation, seed selection, and design.
- Community: Bringing neighbors and organizations together for a common cause.
- Impact: Saving money, improving lives, and providing surplus for sharing.
Project Benefits and Impact
Teladan's 1000 Raised Beds project is designed to make a significant impact on individual and community well-being:
- Cost-Effective: The project reduces the barriers of costs to building raised beds designed for maximal year-round growing. An average seed expenditure of $70 yields over $600 in fresh, healthy, local food, with our designs offering even higher yields.
- Skill Development: We address the barrier of lack of gardening skills while serving as a strategic BeWell solution. Participants receive support as they learn to plant high yield, highly nutritious, and typically expensive crops.
- Community Impact: The project brings great cost savings, nutrition, sense of community, and psychological wellbeing to participants and their communities.
- Empowerment: Through participation, partners develop their skills as agents of change capable of replicating the project.
- Comprehensive Approach: The project addresses each domain of our state's BeWell initiative, offering a holistic solution to health and well-being.
Teladan reduces the biggest barriers to getting started - the cost of supplies and support for developing skills - providing significant value to people and communities.
